COOKIE POLICY

DEFINITION AND SCOPE

Cookies are small pieces of data, stored in text files, which are stored on your computer or other device when websites are loaded into a browser. By default, almost all web browsers are set to automatically accept cookies. Cookies are largely used to “remember” you and your preferences, either on a single visit (through “session cookies”) or on multiple repeat visits (through “persistent cookies”). They ensure a consistent and efficient visitor experience and perform essential functions such as enabling users to register and stay connected.

Cookies may be set by the website you are visiting (“proprietary cookies”) or by third parties, i.e. by a website other than the one you are visiting, such as that of the content, advertising or website analytics provider (“third party cookies”). This is because the website can contain elements (images, maps, sounds, specific links to web pages of other domains, etc.) that reside on servers other than that of the website visited. Websites and HTML e-mails may also contain other tracking technologies such as “web beacons” or “pixels”. These are typically small, transparent images that provide statistics for purposes similar to those of cookies. They are often used in conjunction with cookies, although they are not stored on your computer in the same way. As a result, if you disable cookies, web beacons may still load, but their functionality will be limited.

Cookies can be used for a variety of purposes. Some cookies are required for technical reasons; some ensure visitors and registered users a personalised experience; and some display advertisements from selected third-party networks. Some of these cookies can be set when a page is loaded or when a visitor performs a certain action (clicking on the “Like” or “Follow” button in a post, for example). Many of the cookies we use are only set if you are a registered user (so that you don’t need to log in each time, for example), while others are set each time you visit our Website, regardless of whether or not you have an account with us.

The measure of the Italian Data Protection Authority issued on 8 May 2014 identifies two macro cookie categories: “technical” cookies and “profiling” cookies.

“TECHNICAL” COOKIES

These cookies are required in order to browse the website or provide a service requested by the user. They are not used for any other purpose, and are normally installed directly by the website Data Controller. Without these cookies, some operations could not be carried out or would be more complex and/or less secure: for example, in home banking (viewing bank statements, arrangement of bank transfers, payment of bills, etc.), these cookies are essential, as they enable secure user identification.

Technical cookies can be further broken down into:

Browsing or session cookies, which ensure normal navigation and use of the website (for example, allowing users to make a purchase or log into restricted areas);

Analytics cookies, assimilated to technical cookies if used directly by the website operator to collect information, in aggregate form, about the number of users and how they visit the website;

Functionality cookies, which allow the user to navigate according to a set of selected criteria (e.g. language, products selected for purchase) in order to improve the website’s service.

“PROFILING” COOKIES

These cookies are used to track users’ browsing activities and create profiles based on their tastes, habits, choices, etc. These cookies make it possible to send users advertising in line with the preferences already expressed by browsing the net.

USE OF COOKIES BY THIS WEBSITE

This website uses technical browsing, analytics and functionality cookies.

OTHER TYPES OF COOKIES OR THIRD-PARTY TOOLS THAT MAY USE THEM

Some of the services listed below collect statistics in aggregate form and may not require the user’s consent or may be managed directly by the Data Controller – as described – without the involvement of third parties.

If the following services include some operated by third parties, these may carry out user tracking activities, over and above the information provided herein and also without the knowledge of the Data Controller. For detailed information, please read the privacy policies of the listed services.

MANAGING AND DELETING COOKIES

In addition to the information provided herein, we inform you that users may wish to restrict the use of cookies or prevent them entirely from being set. Most browsers provide the possibility of tracking cookie behaviour, such as storage time, through built-in features or by using third-party plug-ins. Through your browser preferences, you can also delete cookies that have been installed in the past, including any cookies that have saved your consent to the website’s setting cookies. If you disable cookies, please note that some of the features of our service may not work properly. You can find more information on how to manage cookies in your browser at the following addresses: Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari and Microsoft Windows Explorer. For more information on managing and deleting cookies, visit aboutcookies.org. For more details on your choices regarding the use of your web browsing activities for interest-based advertising, visit youronlinechoices.eu (EU-based) or optout.aboutads.info (US-based). On a mobile device, you may also change your settings to limit ad tracking. You can disable Google Analytics by installing the add-on for the Google browser.

In the case of services provided by third parties, the user may also oppose tracking by reading the third-party privacy policy, using the opt-out link when explicitly provided, or contacting the said third-party directly.

DATA CONTROLLER IN CHARGE OF PROCESSING COOKIES

Since the installation of cookies and other tracking systems operated by third parties through the services used within this website cannot be technically monitored by Starplastick S.r.l., any specific reference to cookies and tracking systems installed by third parties is to be considered indicative. For complete information, please read the privacy policy of the third party services listed in this document.
Given the objective complexity linked with identifying cookie-based technologies and their very close integration with the functioning of the website, the user is invited to contact Starplastick S.r.l. for more information regarding the cookies and any use made of them – for example by third parties – through this website.
